Bringing art to the community
HaBA artists are working on an exciting new project which will be launched on the first bank holiday of the year in May, the art group are working in partnership with the Petals charity to create 30 mini replicas of Burnhams iconic lighthouse each lighthouse stands approximately 6 ft tall and will be painted by a different artist, each artist has chosen the design for their lighthouse, designs range from horses running through the ocean, wild life, cherubs and carnival to name but a few. The lighthouses will be displayed around the town from late May until September when they will be auctioned. A trail will be available for all to take part in and a launch party is scheduled for May 3rd at the lighthouse Pub. Further details will be available shortly

Geraldine Boley one of HaBAs artists is taking the local area through the seasons as her inspiration ‘Spring’ with a cormorant and adult swan. ‘Summer ‘ is a view of Brean down with goats, winter is two views of the river bank, one looking over to the boat and the second is looking back towards the pits with a terrier in the foreground snow.
Margaret Micklewright has used her love of horses as her inspiration for her lighthouse
Michelle Hurls lighthouse is a work in progress! The lighthouse is going to be called Heliophilia – the need for light and sunshine… This is the main route that Shell walks her dog several times a week; from Burnham beach to Berrow’s ship wreck, she has captured many sunset’s and rays as she can. The first image is the layout painting of my triptych design, second – the completed central sun panel and the third, the two outer panels of glass cut and positioned prior to being fused. The fourth design is going to be a leaded piece emulating the front of the Burnham lighthouse with the red stripe and two lighthouse windows.
